Some people may not know, but at Infinity Early College High School we have three different generations of teachers, Mr. Wawee, Mr. Jimenez and, Ms. Maia. By three generations, I mean that Mr. Wawee taught Mr. Jimenez, who taught Ms. Maia. It’s like generations of families, but in education. Each one of them are very passionate about teaching. They all love helping one another. Most of them even want to teach part time after they retire.
This year, Mr. Wawee is going to retire. He has been an amazing teacher at Infinity. We all love and appreciate everything he has done for us. Mr. Wawee has always loved helping people, which is why he got into teaching. He has been teaching for 26 years. Even after he retires from full time teaching, he is going to teach part time, which shows how much he cares for others. Next, Mr. Jimenez wanted to start teaching once he learned about the educational system when he got to the US. He looked up his art teacher, who was also his chess coach. After Mr. Jimenez retires, he also plans on teaching part time at a college or university and he wants to have his own chess club or chess cafe. Finally, Ms. Maia who just started teaching at Infinity this past year, but also went to Infinity for High school. Just like Mr. Wawee and Mr. Jimenez, she loved helping people and teaching, which got her into wanting to be a teacher. She helped tutor at her college and she loved teaching and helping everyone so much she followed that passion and started teaching. At the moment, Ms. Maia just wants to teach. She wants to try new things as a teacher. Every single one of these teachers here helps us every day we need help, whether they are our teachers or we just turn to them for help. It isn’t just these three teachers it is every teacher at Infinity. I bet you if you talked to every other teacher, they will tell you something similar to why they started teaching, and that even after they retire from it they will still want to do it. |
